Fitness Fridays: Keeping Focus

Since the last “Friday Fitness” I have been trying to do some form of strength workout each day.  I have been a bad blogger in terms of updating my routine.  To sum it up, I’ve been focusing a lot on core and arm exercises.  I have been doing a lot of planks and “hovers” in my yoga and have been perpetually sore from it.  I do feel like I’m getting stronger though because I am finding myself being able to hold the poses longer.

Next week, I really want to focus on my cardio in addition to strength.  Everyone says that you should lift before you run but I always get too tired from lifting to run properly.  I’m thinking about packing a snack to the gym the next time I go.  Hopefully that’ll get me going.  Anyways this week I’ve been focusing on making PIES!!!!!  I made 3 pies this week, 2 cherry and 1 apple.

I was inspired by a comment from Jezebel that suggested I make my own pie due to my dislike of supermarket pie crust.  I gotta say, making my own pies are a loooot of fun and very tasty.  I’m still on team cake but team pie is looking veryyy yummy.

I took some pics of my first pie making experience.

Trying to work fast so the smart balance won’t melt!

Rolling the dough

Took me forever to roll out a “circle”

Adding foil around the edges so they don’t burn!

Here it is, my first pie made from scratch!

Fitness Fridays: Overcoming Committmentphobia

So this season on the RHNYC my favorite character is officially Kelly Kiloren Bensimon.  I love her because she’s just kind of staying out of everyone’s business and also because of her fabulous personality and wardrobe (minus the fur).  Another thing about her that I love is her body!  She is so incredibly athletic and works hard for it too.

This really got the wheels turning in my head.  I’ve always wanted to be more toned but I hate doing weights.  I know that muscles don’t just grow by themselves, they require a specific balance of nutrition and exercise to flourish.  So it just got me thinking, how committed do I want to be to becoming stronger and more athletic?  I’ve lifted weights on and off in the past but I’ve never committed myself to doing them consistently.

Well, I’m sick of being a commitment-phobe and I’m ready to take action.  So I’m going to post my workout schedule every day and hold myself to completing it.  This is quite nerve racking because I am really bad at holding myself accountable for things.  So on every Friday, I will try to post any progress that I see and also some fitness related topics.
