So last week was a negative week overall because I just didn’t feel good. Honestly, I felt fat and frumpy! I know that I can’t technically feel “fat” and “frumpy” because they aren’t feelings but I felt bad and thought negatively. As long time readers of my blog may know, I generally don’t write about body image issues. But now that I feel more comfortable with my audience, I figure that I might as well share a rather personal part of my life.
It started off with short shirt syndrome:
When did my shirt shrink?
I was unpleasantly surprised to find that I can no longer wear one of my favorite polo shirts in public anymore
. On top of that, my face was swollen so I looked even worse. It was just a very defeating week, one bad thing after another. At times my face felt so itchy that I just wanted to cry. Did I mention that I was also PMSing? What really helped me get over my negativity was to try to think logically. This might sound cheesy but hear me out.
I figured that since my red and swollen face obviously showed that I had some kind of skin issue, people wouldn’t gawk at me because it would be like gawking at a sick person. With regards to feeling “fat,” having read Jess‘s entry on Weight Gain Worries back in August, I knew that I was just being overly critical. Looking back, my “logic” seems kind of stupid and naive but whatever it worked for me!
Today I am happy to announce that my face is back to normal-ish (it’s not swollen anymore- just dry) and I’m no longer PMSing
. Dave is flying in for the week and I’m super excited!
Oh and last night was CRAZY! My dad had left his camera case in Time Square on Sunday afternoon which contained a bunch of memory cards, his extra battery and the charger. He thought all was lost but I urged him to go back into the city to look for it because I figured that no one would want to take a camera case with no camera. We drove back into the city at around midnight, looked around and didn’t find anything. However, we spotted the Time Square police office, went in and asked them if anyone had turned in a camera case. SOMEONE ACTUALLY DID! We then went straight down to the precinct on 35th St and got everything back!!!
Yay!!! GO NYPD! (Never thought I’d say that lol)
The whole process of driving into the city, going to the police and driving back only took about an hour and a half since there was no traffic at night!
An empty Lincoln Tunnel!
Anyways, there will be exciting eats this week because Dave wants to try “every vegan restaurant in NYC.” Any recommendations?
