To the Farmer’s Market We Go!

This morning Dave, Sara, Abdul and I went to the Oak Park Farmer’s Market.  It was very cool to see all the local produce that was brought in.  Dave, Sara and I walked to the market (about 1.5 miles away) while Abdul (who was being lazy) drove.  On the way, I was able to take these amazing pictures of flowers from our neighbor’s yard.

When we got there, Dave, Sara, and I each took a shot of wheatgrass.

It was quite possibly the best wheatgrass I’ve ever had.  It was super sweet and fresh, yummmmmmy!

I almost bought a flat of wheatgrass to take home but the lady said that the grass should be harvested ASAP and that you shouldn’t really try to regrow the grass as it won’t be as nutritious the second time around.

Sad that I wasn’t able to get the wheatgrass, we walked around some more and saw amazing looking veggies and homemade goodies.

Radishes

Homemade Salsa

Gorgeous Flowers

All in all, it was a glorious time!

On the way home, Dave and I took a detour to the Bleeding Heart Bakery and shared a vegan carrot cake cupcake!

Every bit as delicious and delectable as it looks!

Now, I need to nap after all that walking and food.  I feel like I’m 23 going on 50 :-P !

Vegan Cheesecake Really Does Exist

Yesterday Dave and I walked to the Bleeding Heart Bakery and low and behold, we found a little piece of heaven… vegan blueberry cheesecake.

It was made of tofu!  The “cheesecake” was totally delicious but it didn’t really taste anything like its dairy counterpart.  I guess the difference is best described as the difference in taste between whole milk and soymilk.

I had taken some pictures of the Bleeding Heart Bakery earlier and have yet to post them until now.

The bakery is very punk rock chic from its badass t-shirts to its napkin holder.

Their t-shirts are adorable

As is everything else

I’ve been opting to try something new there every time I go.  So far I’ve tried the vegan cake balls, both the double chocolate and the coconut flavors, the vegan peanut butter and vegan earl gray cupcakes, the vegan s’more brownie, and the vegan blueberry cheesecake.  I have yet to try the vegan raspberry and apricot bars, the vegan scones and the other vegan brownie.  I’m sure there are some vegan goodies that I’ve missed but rest assure, I will eat them all :-P .

I was planning to go for a run today but it’s raining :-( .  Ugh, Chicago weather drives me nuts! Instead, I will…

Anyways, in light of the GREs my word of the day is pneumatic.

From the Merriam-Webster online dictionary pneumatic means:

1 : of, relating to, or using gas (as air or wind): a : moved or worked by air pressure b (1) : adapted for holding or inflated with compressed air (2) : having air-filled cavities
2 : of or relating to the pneuma: spiritual
3 : having a well-proportioned feminine figure; especially : having a full bust

I like this word because I can say, I need implants to look pneumatic :-P .
